Austin Chinese Restaurants - Austin First Chinese BBQ

This is one of the top favorite Austin Chinese resturants in Austin, TX! It really is one of the only places to go for great Chinese food.

There aren't many Chinese BBQ places in Austin. For the longest time, your only choice was the oddly salty Din Ho with its long lines and its chaotic dining room.

Best Austin Chinese BBQ opened about 5 years ago along with the new Chinatown complex at Lamar/Braker.

Modern decor, friendly BBQ staff, the restaurant is inexpensive and has a broad menu.

The BBQ pork is very tasty, with some parts tender and some parts tough. The orange chicken is pretty standard, but with good crisp, and not too much sauce.

The duck was pretty average to me, with many pieces having too much fat to enjoy. Most of their veggie dishes cooked with garlic or oyster sauce is good.

Favorites include Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli.. but it looks or taste nothing like broccoli!), or water spinach. It's less greasy compared to other Chinese restaurants, which should be a good thing, but makes the food more bland compared to others.

Highly recommended for authentic Chinese food.
